Amazon plans for 2023

We forecasted what will change for Amazon sellers in 2022, especially those who used Fulfillment by Amazon, or FBA, a year ago. We’re here again, this time for the year 2023. Let’s look ahead and generate some new projections for how operating an FBA business will change in 2023.

More consumers will purchase products from social media platforms

Social media platforms have developed more and more to enable users to buy goods they see in social media posts, videos, and advertisements. In 2023, social media will continue to grow in importance as an e-commerce engine.

Virtual reality will play a more prominent role in ecommerce

Although virtual reality has long been a hot topic, we believe that in 2023 it will make a significant entry into the e-commerce industry. Walmart invested in artificial intelligence-powered “try it on” technology in 2022 to let customers switch out apparel items on digital models depending on their bodies. This is a significant advancement for e-commerce in terms of user experience, and Amazon is not far behind.

Advertising off Amazon will be more important than ever for Amazon sellers

Advertising is one of the most effective strategies to increase your Amazon listing traffic. However, in 2023 it will be more crucial than ever to have diversified, extensive advertising to beat out rivals, including shops on other platforms and other Amazon sellers.

“Customers ask Alexa” will become an invaluable tool for sellers

Amazon debuted its “Customers ask Alexa” function in September 2022, enabling selected companies to respond to queries that customers frequently ask Alexa devices. These answers may include references to additional resources and links to solutions. This function will undoubtedly be expanded in 2023 and eventually made accessible to all registered brands on Amazon.

Walmart plans for 2023

The word “trust” at Walmart has a simple but rare significance. Even though there are many methods, we work to win customers’ trust. Keeping our promise of quick shipping and delivery has always been crucial to us. Today, we can quickly fulfil online purchases because of our 4,700 stores, located within 10 miles of 90% of Americans, and our 31 eCommerce-specific fulfilment centres. However, we won’t stop there.

We are excited to announce that we will construct four next-generation fulfilment centres (FCs) over the following three years. We believe we must always go above and beyond for our clients. These FCs will be the first of their kind for Walmart. They will use a potent blend of human labour, robotics, and machine learning to redefine the pace at which we can complete orders thoroughly. At the same time, continuing to create a positive work environment for our associates.

The most amazing part is that only these four next-generation FCs alone could offer next or two-day shipping on millions of items, including Marketplace items supplied by Walmart Fulfillment Services, to 75% of the country’s population. We can reach 95% of the U.S. population with next- or two-day shipping combined with our conventional FCs. 80% of Americans can receive same-day delivery thanks to the wide distribution network of our store. Additionally, these four future institutions will employ almost 4,000 staff members. In addition, we’re establishing brand-new positions with a tech focus, such as control technicians, quality audit analysts, and flow managers.

Etsy plans for 2023

The business strategy of Etsy is pretty sound. Unlike Amazon, Etsy doesn’t provide fulfilment services, which drastically lowers its overhead. While most of Etsy’s income comes from seller fees, the company’s expanding advertising division helps stabilise its financial position.

The year-over-year (YoY) increases below were calculated by comparing search volume on Etsy from July through October 2022 to the same period of 2021.

Even if the holiday season is in full flow, 2023 is just a few months away. We’re releasing our most recent round of findings on the goods customers could be looking for on Etsy next season to help you set up your store.
